British Science Week 2026: “Curiosity: what’s your question?”
British Science Week is an annual 10‑day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths, taking place this year from 6–15 March 2026.
This year’s theme encourages children and young people to take the lead — asking the questions that matter most to them, exploring the world with curiosity, and discovering how science helps us find answers. The British Science Association emphasises that all scientific discovery begins with a spark of curiosity, and this year’s theme empowers pupils to follow that spark wherever it leads.
To help schools take part, e‑Bug has created a brand‑new Curiosity: what’s your question? toolkit focused on microbes, hygiene, antibiotics and immunity:
- 16‑Question discussion slide‑deck
Big “What if…?” questions, pupil prompts, and ready‑to‑use image placeholders - Teacher‑ready notes (built into each slide)
Clear explanations, key learning points, misconceptions, differentiation, and links to curriculum‑aligned e‑Bug activities - One‑page lesson guide
A simple structure for running a curiosity‑driven session in any classroom
Click the links above to download the British Science Week 2026 toolkit and run a curiosity‑led science session with your class. Or explore the full e‑Bug website for more activities on microbes, hygiene, food safety, vaccination and antibiotic use.
Microbes
Microbes are changing and adapting due to global travel and climate change, therefore it is important that we understand microbes and the causes for their change.

Vaccinations
Vaccinations have made incredible strides, protecting us from diseases that once caused widespread suffering. Staying up-to-date with vaccinations, including new and booster jabs, is crucial. By doing so, we protect ourselves and our communities. Check out these videos to understand the concept of immunity and vaccinations: How vaccines work and vaccine and immunity

Antibiotics and Antimicrobial Resistance
With antimicrobial resistance becoming a global health crisis, it is important that children; the antimicrobial users and prescribers of the future, understand what antimicrobial resistance is, why these medications are becoming resistant and how we can all adapt our behaviours to keep them working.
