World Immunisation Week 2026 – Teaching Resources

World Immunisation Week takes place from 24–30 April and is a global campaign to raise awareness of the importance of vaccination.

Under the theme “For every generation, vaccines work”, World Immunisation Week 2026 celebrates how vaccines have safely protected people, families, and communities for generations — and how they continue to safeguard our future.

The Immunity Chain Reaction Game is an interactive classroom activity that helps pupils explore how infections spread and how vaccination can help protect individuals and whole communities. Through a simple physical game, students see how higher levels of vaccination can reduce the spread of infection and help protect babies and others who cannot yet be vaccinated.

The activity is designed to be delivered in one lesson and includes a teacher guidance document and a PowerPoint presentation to support classroom delivery.

For every generation, vaccines work

Vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to prevent infectious diseases and protect those most at risk, including babies and people who cannot receive certain vaccines. By understanding how vaccines work and why high uptake matters, children and young people can play an important role in protecting their own health and the health of others.
