World Antimicrobial Awareness Week: Creative Challenge
We are excited to invite Key Stage 4 students to take part in the WAAW Creative Challenge. Through digital or physical artwork such as posters, cartoons or drawings, students can use their creative skills to raise awareness about responsible antibiotic use and knowledge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Students can win prizes for themselves, and for their schools!
Deadline for entries: Friday 24th October
Why take part in the challenge?
Resistance to antibiotics occurs when bacteria and other microbes evolve and no longer respond to the medicines designed to kill them. This makes infections harder to treat and increases the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death. If we lose the effectiveness of antibiotics we risk returning to a time when simple illnesses were deadly.
Students have a powerful role to play. By learning about AMR and sharing what they know, young people can:
- Promote good hygiene habits like handwashing
- Help others understand why AMR is a serious issue
- Encourage responsible use of antibiotics
