C. P. Constantinou is a Professor in Science Education and Director of the Learning in Science Group at the University of Cyprus. He has also worked at Washington State University and the University of Washington. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Science Education and the Educational Research Review and he is serving as a reviewer in other international research journals including Learning and Instruction and the Journal of Research in Science Teaching. He has been active in international educational research over a period of more than 15 years with research interests that focus on the learning and teaching of science as a process of inquiry and the use of educational technologies as a tool for promoting critical evidence-based thinking. The Learning in Science Group uses the results of this research in the development of online learning environments, such as the STOCHASMOS platform, and research-based teaching-learning sequences to promote conceptual understanding and scientific thinking. Dr Constantinou has co-ordinated a number of projects funded by the European Commission and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation. He has participated in the High Level Working Group that authored the report Europe needs more Scientists! in 2004; he was the Rapporteur in a group of experts that carried out the mid-term evaluation of the EC Science in Society program in FP6 and he has participated in an expert panel on the educational outreach programme of the European Space Agency. Finally, he has served as a member of the Board of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) and of the European Association of Science Education Researchers (ESERA).

Dr. Demetra Paraskeva-Hadjichambi is Biologist, having a Master of Science in Environmental Conservation and Management and a PhD in Didactics of Biology. She worked as a biology teacher in secondary education for 5 years (1998-2003). She worked as a member of Special Educational Personnel in Science at the University of Cyprus. She is currently working in secondary education. Since 2008 she has been a member of Biology Curriculum Committee in the framework of Cyprus Educational Reformation. Her research interests include the design and evaluation of curriculum materials enhancing students’ conceptual understanding, values and attitudes. Demetra had the coordination for the development and evaluation of learning materials for the enrichment of Primary Science Curriculum of Cyprus (2007-2010). She worked as a Content Expert regarding Biology and Environmental Science for the Design and Development of Digital Educational Content (DEC). Demetra also participated in the evaluation of pilot applications of ICT incorporation in learning and teaching in Secondary Education, Cyprus Pedagogical Institute (2008).

Dr. Andreas Ch. Hadjichambis is Biologist, having a Master of Science in Environmental Conservation and Management and a PhD in Conservation Biology. He worked as a biology advisor in the Ministry of Education and Culture (Secondary Education). Eleni Ioannidou is Biologist, having a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the Cyprus International Institute for Environmental and Public Health in association with Harvard School of Public Health. She did a practicum at Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CY.C.E.R.E.), which was related to the ecology of the coastal dune ecosystem of Lady’s mile in Limassol. Since 2013, she has worked as Environmental Educator at CY.C.E.R.E. She has been involved in the development of educational materials on environmental issues and sustainability. In addition, she has experience in training students and teachers in environmental education workshops and in organizing seminars and conferences for students and teachers. Also since 2013 she was involved in the e-Bug project and since 2014 in the MASS project which is a European project aiming to motivate and attract students to Science.
